Pleasant stay but maintenance is required

Pros: Cozy, traditional Amazigh house, great service from our host (Hassan) as he was attentive to our needs and tried his very best to meet our requests including providing firewood and sugar. Quiet and safe area, near restaurants and shops in Merzouga, spacious house with nice living room for gathering. We faced some issues after we booked and paid but decided to close one eye and proceed with our stay.

Cons: We have mixed feelings about this house and would like to be honest. Firstly, as a Level 3 on booking.com, I managed to book this house with free breakfast. However only after booking and paying, our host (another guy) informed that there was an error in his listing and breakfast was not included. When I showed screenshots of his listing and booking confirmation that included breakfast, he denied and said breakfast isn’t included for the price I paid. The price I paid is irrelevant because my booking confirmation in fact included breakfast and I get Level 3 benefits. Host wanted to charge an additional €8 per person for breakfast. Eventually, I decided to waive the breakfast for all 7 nights we stayed. It would have been good if host had honoured what was in his listing instead of blaming booking.com - I note that this problem had been flagged in earlier reviews. Secondly, one of the rooms which claims to have a large double bed (or Queen) is actually a standard double bed hence smaller than expected. Thirdly, the house on the whole needs some maintenance. We understand it’s old and worn, but it’d be nice to have a tv remote control that actually works properly, lights to work (and not flicker), have proper heating (electric heater we were given was extremely weak esp for winter). As for the kitchen, some basic provisions would have been good such as oil, sugar and salt. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and we will return again only if our suggestions and feedback are taken seriously by our hosts. Thank you.

Pros: This place was really beautiful and the whole family very nice and welcoming, we had a wonderful time. The house is right next to the dunes and we had the best experience

Pros: Thank you hamid for your hospitality, very comfortable bed and it was clean , they help us to organize a desert tour , he have a very traditional camp with his cousins and tour jeep to visit the nomads family's. Meals hamid mom was very delicious Thank you again and we will come back next year inchallah

Pros: I cannot recommend this super accommodation highly enough. Beautiful, authentic rooms, excellent breakfast and dinner and one of the friendliest hosts we have ever met. I also highly recommend the camel trekking and jeep tours in the desert that Hamid organises. If you come to this area look no further, it doesn't get any better than this.

Super nice apartment near the center

Pros: Really beautifully equipped and designed apartment a stones-throw away from the main road in the center of Merzouga, with shops and restaurants. Really thoughtfully designed with a cool living room, all new shower, kitchen, and cute bedroom. It's pretty quiet around and you are quick at the dunes too! Very kind hosts, too. And - you are immersed in the village life, but have the comfort of a stylish home, plus the proximity to town and the dunes. Win-win.

Onvergetelijk

Pros: Een onvergetelijke ervaring in Merzouga! Ons verblijf in het huisje was werkelijk perfect. Vanaf het eerste moment werden we met open armen ontvangen door onze host Hussein. Hij is ontzettend lief, gastvrij en zorgde ervoor dat we ons meteen thuis voelden. ’s Avonds werd er live muziek voor ons gespeeld, wat meteen een warme, magische sfeer creëerde. Hussein regelde ook dat we het museum met oude auto’s konden bezoeken — super interessant! Daarnaast heeft hij een fantastische tour voor ons georganiseerd: we bezochten nomaden, ontdekten een oude stam die traditionele Gnawa-muziek voor ons speelde, en genoten van elke seconde. Het absolute hoogtepunt was de nacht in de woestijn. We sliepen in een luxe tent onder een prachtige sterrenhemel, dansten en zongen rond het kampvuur… een ervaring die we nooit zullen vergeten. En dat allemaal voor een heel degelijke prijs. Kortom: dit was PERFECT. Een gezellige, warme en unieke ervaring. Wij komen zeker terug! 🌟🧡🐪

Pros: Maison typique bédouins, murs en terre,pas d'étage, sans oublier la décoration et le confort. TV sat cuisine lave linge. La maison est au bout de la rue du centre ville, Emplacement super! dans un quartier familiale et calme. Le propriétaire Hassan est très accueillant et vous propose des activités moins cher, que ce que vous trouverez ailleurs à Merzouga. L'accueil est vraiment au top et vous pouvez manger le tajine, couscous, de sa maman . A ne pas rater!!! Si vous passez à Merzouga.Un veritable moment de convivialité marocaine sans arrière pensée et des prix très correct. On s'y sent bien.😆 Certainement le meilleur logement typique du village car j'en essayer d'autres mais rien a voir.

Cons: Ras

Pros: Traditionelles Haus. Sehr geräumig. Lage in einem Wohnquartier. Geschäfte in gehweite. Der Gastgeber hat uns persönlich empfangen und alles gezeigt. Am Abend kann man bei der Familie köstliches hausgemachtes Essen bestellen (Aufpreis), wird in das Haus gebracht. Das Frühstück wird ebenfalls geliefert und war abwechslungsreich und gut. Hassan ist bei Tourenbuchungen gerne behilflich, z.B. Wüste. Das Motorrad war sicher direkt vor der Haustür geparkt. Wir hatten ein paar sehr entspannte Tage in dem Haus. Danke.

Sahara Hideaway

Pros: It was very interesting to stay in a hand built desert nomad house..The family who built the house and hosted us lives in the bigger house next door. They kindly invited us in and we got to meet other members of the family. The mother also cooked for us and it was fun to try the homemade Berber pizza for dinner one night and a breakfast with delicious Berber omelette. Having a fridge for cold drinks was great and the washing machine was especially appreciated after traveling in Morocco for over a month. You can also book excursions through the host which is convenient. The location at the edge of the dunes is very good. We enjoyed being able to walk out by ourselves and be in the dunes in 10 mins. There are also lots of restaurants/markets nearby within walking distance.

Cons: It was a bit confusing when we first arrived because the house did not look like the photos online. To clarify, there are three nomad houses guests can stay in which look somewhat similar. In the end, it was fine but just wanted to let others know. On my booking.com reservation, it said there was breakfast included but when it was brought up, the host said it was an error with booking.com. It would have been nice if the breakfast had been honored. We only did one excision, the 3 hr one where they take you out in the 4x4 jeep into the dunes and visit the village of Khamlia to watch the musicians. The price seemed high to us (80 euros for 2 people) but maybe that is the going rate. We felt uncomfortable being taken to an artisan shop at the end of the tour because you feel a bit pressured to buy something. The house itself was atmospheric to stay in but the kitchen and bathroom were not very clean. If you are coming during the hot months, just be prepared for the heat and flies. There is no air conditioning in the house so the bedrooms are very warm at night.
